PLOT

Adventure Time's plot was quite inetresting to say the least. The amount of storylines were crazy. The show had so many storylines to the point where some storylines would randomly stop after a few episodes then come back seasons later. I found the show to be extremely creative although,for a Cartoon Network show, creativity never dissapoints. Despite the low budget artstyle and animation, the writing really carried the show which in the end is what this website focuses on.

CHARACTERS

CONS

  • This may come across as a brutal, unpopular opinion, however I felt that the genderbent versions of Finn and Jake (Fiona and Cake) were not appealing. Their personalities as girls did not have much appeal to me and I quite frankly did not like the episodes they were featured in. I do however understand why they are a fan favorite, just not my favorite.
  • The way the characters treated Ice King was so unfortunate. The way Finn presents himself as a hero yet never thought to understand Ice King's sad life in the earlier seasons was extremely frustrating to watch..
  • Princess Bubblegum, although being one of the main characters, her behavior is quite psychotic which not many people are taking a realization to. Watching everyone in the show idolize this woman who genetically modified candy to make her own kingdom of which she would govern over as a science experiment was extremely weird yet great on the writer's part.
  • Every character in the show was extremely cool yet because there were so many storylines, the existence of the characters was extremely minor.

    • PROS

  • Finn's relationships were not awkward at all. It is hard to make relationships tropes in cartoons yet, I believe Adventure Time made Finn's relationships with the women in the show bareable to watch.
  • The relationship between Princess Bubblegum and Marceline was such a great addition. Them being complete oposites and an LGBTQ+ couple was an extreme cultural reset.
  • Ice King's character development/storyline as Simon was extremely well thought out. They way the writers make his storyline a main part of the show was a great way to move it along. This really made me sympathize his life and allow Finn to be nicer to him which was extremely satisfying to see at a viewer standpoint.
