PLOT

The plot of Regular Show was one of the most interesting of which I have seen from a Cartoon Network show. Although in each episode it is the same format of Rigby causing a some sort of tear in the universe or supernatural events despite working at a dead-end, boring job and the crew having to fix it, I feel like the repetition had some charming comfort to it. The characters has such distinct personalities that played a role in the storyline as time progressed.

I must add that season 8 felt rushed and unncecessary. By season 8, or if I am really being honest, when Thomas was introduced, the show lost its charm. However, the writers still managed to make it entertaining nonetheless and did not change the basic format or characters' personaities. The concept of being stuck in space was simply not working for them.

CHARACTERS

CONS

  • I feel like they've been fading Skips out quite a bit actually. He used to be pretty prominent in the earlier seasons with solving whatever magical tear in the universe was happening. This hasn't seem like the case since Cloudy had become a thing again.
  • Muscleman was aresentful character in the beginning. His character and his wife were uncomfortable to watch.
  • Pops...I'm not really sure what his role is. Sometimes he tries to be mature and typically fails a lot (Like with firing Benson) but other then that he just seems like that handicapped kid who bags at your local grocery store.
  • Fives I honestly wish they'd do more with, they'll go 6+ episodes without him even showing up or saying a single word it seems.
  • PROS

  • From a comedic standpoint, Muscle Man is nothing short of elite. His constant "my mom" jokes are an iconic part of the series, which meshes well with his off-the-wall personality.
  • During the beginning portions of the series, Mordecai is completely infatuated with Margaret. It is refreshing when the two date, as it does seem that they are compatible. Yet, she then quickly leaves him, as she elects to pursue her education and ultimate dream job; which I found pleasing to have such a realistic aspect in the show especially since the show is beyond creative with the sci-fi.
  • Eileen is a character that is massively important for the series, as she is the primary catalyst behind Rigby's growth. Although she is a bit obscure in personality, she is immensely sweet and caring to the people around her.
